Darfur, Sudan December 2004

January 2006...
Little has changed to help the displaced people of Darfur. Fighting is continuing and clashes have prompted aid agencies to pull out of the area around Golo.

More than two million people have been forced from their homes and at least 180,000 have died in the conflict.

December 2004
Hundreds of thousands of people displaced in Darfur, western Sudan, are likely to remain in temporary camps for many months while food supplies remain precarious and security unstable, say aid workers in the region.

The United Nations, described the humanitarian crisis in Darfur and neighbouring Chad as the ‘world’s worst’. Around 1.6 million people have fled their homes, many have seen family members killed or raped.

The UK Aid & Development agency Tearfund is providing supplementary and therapeutic feeding for malnourished children under five years old, and for pregnant mothers, in four areas of west Darfur.
